Local Scholarships  

Ottawa Sunrise Rotary “Student of the Month” This $600 scholarship opportunity for seniors is based on an application which is available in the Counseling Center in September. Members of the club review the applications and choose a student to represent OTHS at one of the 7 monthly Sunrise Rotary meetings.  These 7 students are eligible for the scholarship, and the recipient is chosen by the Rotary group based on the essay they will present at the meeting.

Alex Scherer Memorial Scholarship   
This scholarship is open to seniors who are planning on entering a 4-year university after graduation.  Applicants should have an outstanding academic record, exceptional character, and extra-curricular participation, especially in community affairs.

Alexander Guy William Muir Memorial Scholarship This is a memorial scholarship opportunity for a college bound senior (2 or 4 year school) who plans to pursue a Computer or Business-related field.

Betty Hibbs Schott Memorial Scholarship   This memorial scholarship is open to all college bound seniors. Approx $300 will be awarded.

Gil Love Memorial Scholarship This $500 scholarship is open to seniors continuing their education at a 2 or 4 year school.  The recipient must have a “B” average, be in the upper 20% of the senior class, and have earned a minimum of 2 varsity letters during his or her high school experience.  Deadline: December 15

Phil Schoch Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is open to OTHS seniors who are planning to continue their education at a 2 or 4 year school (fulltime).  The amount of the scholarship varies yearly.  This scholarship is based on the personal application.

OTHS Teacher’s Centennial Scholarship   This $500
Scholarship is open to all college bound seniors (2 or 4 year school) The requirements are to have a good academic average (B), good school conduct.  School involvement and community service will also be considered.

Roger and June Rowe Memorial Scholarship  This scholarship opportunity is open to seniors who have participated in at least one extra-curricular activity during senior year and have held part-time job. The student must exhibit positive character traits. (integrity, responsibility, dependability, trustworthiness, etc.) $500

Jerry Bretag OHS Scholarship – This scholarship is open to to OTHS seniors with a 2.50 GPA or higher.  Students must have outstanding character, played sports for all 4 years or was the manager, no major discipline problems shown good sportsmanship, and must love God and America.

First Federal Savings Bank’s “Building LaSalle County’s Future” Manufacturing/Technical Trade Scholarship
This scholarship, valued up to $2,500, is for a high school senior at Ottawa Twp. High School or Marquette planning to attend IVCC and pursue any of the IVCC Advanced Manufacturing Related Certificate Programs, or a Manufacturing Related Associates Degree Program.  IVCC works closely with many employers in LaSalle County and has established these programs with local employers in mind.  Some fields included are: Certified Production Technician, Computer-Aided Engineering & Design,  Heating, Ventilation & A/C, Renewable Wind Tech, Industrial Electrician.  A complete listing is provided in the application.

Law Offices of Peter F. Ferracuti “Importance of the Trades Scholarship” – This scholarship is for a senior at OTHS who is planning to pursue a career in the trades.  Community service experience and a short essay are required.

Ken Pike Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to one or more OTHS senior(s) who plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college, university or trade school ($1,000 total).  Student must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and show leadership in school and community.  Unusual circumstances and other criteria may apply.  See application for more details.

Kyriakos & LaVerne Vavaroutsos Memorial Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship is open to OTHS students pursuing culinary arts and food service.  Applicants must show evidence of intent to enroll in a college program to prepare for a career in the restaurant and food service industry.

Ottawa Booster Club Scholarship
These scholarships will be awarded to seniors who have shown excellence in attitude and competitive spirit. Students must have participated as an IHSA athlete or participated in other IHSA sanctioned activities such as cheerleading, manager, pomerette, band choir, speech, scholastic bowl, or chess team member (not necessarily a letter winner.)  A parent or guardian of the student applicant must have been a Booster Club member for 2 years, including the current year student is a senior.

Vactor Mfg. Inc. Scholarship – 2- $500 scholarships are available to OTHS students.  One scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing engineering, accounting, finance, human resources or business.  A second scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a technical field such as welding, machining or automotive.  Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

American Association of University Women, Ottawa Branch
AAUW promotes education and equality for women and girls. 5-$1,000 scholarships are available to qualified female undergraduate students.   Deadline: March 1

ONYX Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is available to one OTHS student who will be furthering his/her education after high school.  ONYX is an organization of young leaders in the Ottawa community and would like to assist one OTHS student with their post high school education in hopes of them returning and enhancing the community.  Applications can be found at http://www.onyxillinois.org/ and emailed to: onyx.illinois@gmail.com.

*NEW*OSF St. Elizabeth Educational Assistance Scholarship Program - This financial assistance is open to graduating high school seniors planning to attend a college of higher education or college students enrolled in an accredited college or university, whose primary residence is in LaSalle County or a surrounding community served by OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.  Up to $5,000 may be awarded annually. Chad Johnson Memorial Scholarship – “No one fights alone.”  This $500 scholarship was established by the family of Chad Johnson. Chad was a 2004 graduate of OTHS.  The scholarship is open to OTHS students pursuing nursing.  A short essay is required.  Minimum 3.0 GPA.
Deadline: April 13

Ray Makeever Music Scholarship  This $500 scholarship is open to  graduating seniors who have participated in band every semester of high school and plan to major in music or continue participation in a musical organization at their college/university.

Lifetime Membership in FFA Alumni in Memory of Clifford Sichta, Jr. – This scholarship is for current senior members of the Ottawa FFA (not holding any office).  A short essay is required.

“That Old Blue Jacket” Keith Clement Agriculture Education Scholarship – This scholarship is for current senior members of the Ottawa FFA.  Students must be planning to pursue Agriculture Education.

Rebecca Aten Memorial Art Scholarship – This $1,000 is for a graduating OTHS senior who plans to pursue his/her degree in Art full-time at the college level.  The award will be in the form of a Dick Art Supply gift card.  An essay and sample art work are required.

Coach Bob Raudonis Soccer Scholarship – This scholarship was established to assist and reward Ottawa high School senior soccer players continuing their education who have demonstrated leadership, a strong work ethic, teamwork, and academic potential.

*NEW*Robert O. Lewis, M.D. Memorial Scholarship – This $500 scholarship was established in 2017 in memory of Dr. Robert “Robin” Lewis.  Dr. Lewis was a physician in Ottawa for nearly four decades.  This scholarship will be awarded to an OTHS senior that is planning to pursue a college education in the areas of science or medicine.

Ottawa Zonta Club Scholarship    The Ottawa Zonta Club awards a $750 scholarship based on character and scholastic average to a senior girl who plans to continue her education after graduation.

Ottawa USBC Bowling Scholarship
Two - $250 scholarships are available for a male and female OTHS senior who participated on the school’s bowling team for a minimum of two years.  Students must plan to attend college in the fall and carry a 2.5 GPA.  Two letters of recommendation and an essay are required.

Ottawa FFA Alumni Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is open to current OTHS senior FFA members.  Students must have a minimum two year membership in FFA.  Students must be planning to pursue college or trade school in the fall.

Ottawa Woman’s Club OHS Scholarship  This $1,000 scholarship is open to females of high moral character who have a GPA of C+ or above at the end of their first semester senior year, and have shown the ability to persevere and work hard. They must have been accepted to an accredited college, university or trade school.

Michelle L. Bute Memorial Scholarship
This is a scholarship opportunity for seniors who are planning to attend either a 2 or 4 year school and pursue Art as a career.  The amount of this scholarship is $500.

Don E. Morehead Community Service Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is for a graduating senior of Ottawa Township High School who will continue his/her education at a college, university, or community college.  Selection of this scholarship will be based on overall citizenship and community involvement.

Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs This scholarship is open to senior girls who have been involved in volunteer work and leadership achievements.  The winner of this scholarship will go on to the district level with the opportunity for more scholarship monetary awards.

Molly Bardson Scholarship – This scholarship was founded by Molly Bardson as a way to give back and assist young female athletes succeed in their academic pursuits.  Applicants must have participated in varsity girls’ basketball at Ottawa Twp. High School and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Ali Stevenson Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship was created in memory of 2011 OTHS grad who passed away in August of 2016.  Minimum 3.25 GPA.  Application must be typed, must include a letter of recommendation, transcripts, letter of acceptance and short essay discussing two of Ali’s passions.

Aileen Kozsdiy Memorial Scholarship
Current GPA of at least 2.80.  Complete application, two letters of recommendation and essay on how two Aileen’s passions in language, art, music, literature & composition, sportsmanship and political activism have impacted their life.

Bud Sand Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship will be awarded to one or two OTHS seniors who plan to further their education at a college, university, vocational or trade school.  Financial need will be the primary selection criteria for awarding this scholarship.

Joanne Anderson Pleskovitch Memorial Scholarship  This $500 scholarship was established by the family of Joanne Anderson Pleskovitch.  Joanne was a 1953 Ottawa Township High School graduate who had a career as a nurse.  As a student she was very active as a cheerleader and in her community.  The scholarship is open to a graduating senior of OTHS who will be continuing his/her education at a two or four-year college/university in a healthcare or dramatic arts field.

Ottawa Noon Rotary International Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship is open to college bound seniors (2 year or 4 year colleges); based on leadership through participation in activities, organizations, sports, and good citizenship.

Marseilles Women’s Club Scholarship The Marseilles Women’s Club is awarding two $250 scholarships to graduating seniors of Ottawa Township High School who are residents of the Marseilles area, pursuing a career in the business field, and involved in school and community activities.

Kate Rowe Wielgopolan Memorial Scholarship – This $500 scholarship is open to OTHS seniors planning to enter college fulltime to pursue a career in healthcare.  Primary consideration will be given to students entering Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging fields (Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, CT, MRI, X-Ray) but other fields will be considered.  Minimum 3.5 GPA required.

Rich Roberts Memorial Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship is for a graduating senior of OTHS who plans to further his/her education by enrolling in a training program, trade/technical school, or college. Specific course requirements do apply.

Mary Ewers Fine Arts Scholarship  The Mary Ewers Scholarship was established to honor one of the finest ladies in the Ottawa community who has a great appreciation for youth and the development of their fine arts.  This scholarship is open to a graduating senior who has participated in one of the fine arts and plans to further their study in theatre, music, or art in a college or university.

Bob Harris Memorial/Marseilles Rotary Business Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is a one-year, non- renewable award open to seniors with a Marseilles mailing address at OTHS, Marquette High School, or Seneca High School who is enrolling in a college or university in a Business or Business-related Field. Rotary Interact members are also eligible to apply.

Vickie Hess Elementary Education Memorial Scholarship
This $500 scholarship application is open to any senior who is planning to become an elementary school teacher and is enrolled for the fall at an accredited college or university.

First United Methodist Church Scholarships – Two scholarships will be awarded:  Gloria Mason – students pursuing a career in nursing or the medical field/ Eddrie Kinnison for students continuing their study of music in college

UNIMIN Corporation.  $1,000 in scholarship funds will be awarded to one graduating senior who has expressed a strong intention to seek a degree in Engineering or in one of the Physical Sciences.

Class of 1971 Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is open to students who have a parent or parents from the OTHS Class of 1971. Students who apply must be planning to further their education upon graduating.  See Mrs. Rios for an application.

Exelon Nuclear LaSalle Generating Station Scholarship  $1,000 in scholarship money is available for OTHS seniors interested in pursuing math, science or engineering.  Minimum 3.0 GPA is required.

Ottawa Moose Lodge #960 Scholarship One $500 scholarship is available to a high school senior who will be continuing his/her education at a college/university or trade school.  Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Students who have dealt with family difficulties will be given first priority. i.e. lost a parent through death or divorce, in foster care, or whose family is in financial trouble due to illness or job loss.

Harold Clemens Memorial Scholarship This $1,000 scholarship is open to graduating seniors of OTHS who will continue education at a college, university, trade, or technical school.  Selection of this scholarship will be based on overall citizenship and community involvement. The winner will be expected to attend the work day in May from which scholarship funding is derived.

Jim Gayan Memorial Service Scholarship
This service scholarship is open to seniors who have participated in Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, or Labor of Love and show a financial need.  An essay is required with the application.

Catholic Daughters of American Scholarship – This $350 scholarship is open to senior girls who are active Catholics.  Students must have participated in community service and plan to attend college in the fall (Catholic school is preferred).  Daughters, granddaughters or relatives of a CDA member take priority.

Ottawa/Naplate Hospitality Association Scholarship – This $1,000 scholarship is open to one senior at OTHS who plans to further their post-high school education and plan to return to the Ottawa area to enrich the community.

Aaron M. Rick Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship was established in November 2014 in memory of 2002 OTHS grad, Aaron M. Rick.  Aaron was a three-sport athlete excelling in football, baseball and basketball.  Eligible students must have a Varsity letter in 3 sports as a junior or senior, plan to enroll in a 2 or 4 year school in the fall, possess a 2.75 GPA, demonstrate a solid work ethic, exhibit leadership on and off the field and a passion for life.

Keith Solberg/DeVry Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is a half-tuition scholarship valued up to $25,000 and is open to students planning to attend the DuPage Campus of DeVry University the same year as high school graduation.

Mark Wiebe Choral Scholarship.  The Mark Wiebe Choral Scholarship was established by the Ottawa Township High School Choirs to celebrate the life and memory of Mark Wiebe.  Mark was a choir member from 2000 until his death in 2003 of Muscular Dystrophy.  The $1000 annual scholarship is to be awarded to the college-bound, senior choir member who best exemplifies the following character traits that Mark was blessed with: positive role model, compassion for others, leadership by example, and dedication.

US Silica Scholarship Two-$1,000 scholarships will be awarded to OTHS seniors who plan to pursue engineering, physical science, chemistry or geology fields at a 2 or 4-year school.  Minimum GPA of 3.75 is required as well as outstanding performance in math and science and leadership activities.

JED Education Foundation Scholarship  This scholarship is open to graduates of OTHS who plan to attend a 4-year college or university.  Selection is based on academic performance, articulated goals and community involvement.  Application must to be turned in or mailed directly to First National Bank.

Don Stevenson/Lion’s Club  This $500 scholarship is for a student who has shown hard work and dedication at school or in the community. This scholarship is picked by nomination. No application is required

County and Community Scholarships

AXA Achievement Community Scholarship – Our local AXA Advisors branch distributes up to twelve $2,000 college scholarships to students in our community.  Winners, known as AXA Achievers, must demonstrate:  Ambition and drive – Determination to set and reach goals- respect for self, family and community – ability to succeed in college.  Applications are available to download at www.axa-achievement.com.

Delta Kappa Gamma (Omicron Chapter) Recruitment Grant- This $1,000 scholarship is open to high school female seniors who are planning to enter the field of education.

1st Farm Credit Services Agricultural Scholarship
24 - $1500 scholarships are available within 1st Farm Credit Services’42 county service territory for seniors who have been accepted into an agriculture or ag-related curriculum at a university, college or community college. Selection will be based on a combination of academic achievement, community and agricultural youth organization involvement, and 2 brief essays.

Illinois Valley Community College Foundation Scholarships – IVCC awards over 100 scholarships in 20 disciplines. By completing the Foundation Scholarship application, students will be eligible for all scholarships.  
Deadline:  March 4

The Road To Work (Illinois Valley Hispanic Council) - open to students of Hispanic descent.  Transcripts, two letters of recommendation and short one- page essay required.  IVCC will match the award for IVCC students.

Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) Prospective Educator Scholarship
This scholarship is for seniors planning to major in education.  Students need to provide a goals statement and letter of reference.  Applications MUST be submitted online at http://www.applitrack.com/phidelta/onlineapp .

Gordon Shipp Memorial Scholarship – This $500 scholarship is presented by the Illinois Valley Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited, in memory of long time member, Gordon Shipp.  Seniors planning to pursue a career in Wildlife Conservation or Fishery are eligible.
Deadline: March 18

Maurice Alford Memorial Scholarship for Theatre Arts/Speech Communication – This $500 scholarship is open to seniors who plans to pursue studies in some type of theatre arts or speech communication.  Students must plan to enroll fulltime at an accredited college, university, or community college.
Deadline: March 15

St. Margaret’s Hospital Foundation Scholarships
This $1,000 scholarship is open to high school seniors or students attending college with an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher.  Applicant must be accepted into or currently enrolled in a hospital-related health care professional curriculum. (Pre-nursing, pre-medical, pre-physical therapy, pre-pharmacy, etc.)

LaSalle County Farm Bureau Foundation
$1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who will be enrolling in an agriculture related field of study.
Deadline:  March 31

LaSalle County HCE Scholarship – This scholarship is offered to residents of LaSalle County who is now or will be enrolled full-time in the fall in a junior college, university or vocational school with plans to pursue a career in a community service related field.  This scholarship is not based on financial need, but rather on leadership, scholarship, and a commitment to the chosen profession that the student is pursuing.

Mark Krenz Memorial Scholarship- This $1,000 scholarship is open to high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores, or juniors who are pursuing a college degree in agriculture, environmental science, or natural resource management. Applications are available online at www.lasalleswcd.org

Chad Scoles Memorial Scholarship – This scholarship is open to any student accepted in an accredited health care professional sequence and is pursuing a career as a medical professional.

Financial Plus Credit Union- open to seniors and current college students. Candidate must be a member in good standing with Financial Plus and maintain a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0.

Hepner-Watts 4H Scholarship  The Hepner-Watts 4H scholarships are open to high school seniors who reside in LaSalle County and who have been active members of LaSalle County 4H for at least 5 years, and are enrolled for the fall semester in a university, college, or vocational school in the state of Illinois.  Deadline: May 1

Joseph J. Hohner Scholarship
These scholarships are available to any LaSalle County student planning to further education after high school.  Award selection is based on both need and merit. The amounts vary as determined by scholarship investment and number of qualified applicants. Applications are available in counseling office and on-line at www.roe35.org

IVCC Helen Taylor Scholarship is an automatic award to valedictorians, salutatorians and/or students ranking in the top 2% of their graduating class who choose to attend IVCC immediately following graduation. Each qualified student will be awarded $1,500 for the 2014-2015 school year with disbursements of $750 per semester (fall and spring only) for the student’s first year at IVCC. Full-time enrollment is required. See Mrs. Rios for an application.

La Salle County Voiture #378-40 & 8 Nursing Scholarship
These scholarships are available for students entering a registered nursing program as a full-time student.  
Deadline: May 26

LaSalle County Stockman’s Scholarship
Two $1,000 scholarships are available to a resident of LaSalle County age 17-23 that has participated in livestock activities in 4H or FFA (or comes from a livestock background) and is pursuing an ag related field of study in college.

Rezin Orthopedics and Sports Medicine  -2 $1,000 scholarships are available to individuals living in the counties of Grundy, Kendall, LaSalle, Livingston, and Will who will be graduating in the spring of 2007 from high school or who are currently enrolled in a university or community college. Kendall Co. Farm Bureau Foundation-Dobbin Family Scholarship
2 scholarships will be awarded in LaSalle County to high school seniors, college students or adults returning to schools who are pursuing an agricultural field of study.

State Scholarships
Elks’ “MVS” Scholarship - The “Most Valuable Student” Award is based on academic performance and community involvement.  Applications are only found online at http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm.   Applications must be filed with our local lodge of jurisdiction: #588 @ 116 W. Jefferson St. in Ottawa.

Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois
Any student interested in a teaching career can be nominated by a teacher, counselor, principal or non-family-member adult.  Please see Mrs. Rios in 203 for nomination forms.  Students may receive up to $18,000 in financial assistance.  The Scholars program is the largest pre-service teacher-support program in the United States.

CBAI Foundation for Community Banking Scholarships - These scholarships are available to up to 25 Illinois high school seniors and can be valued up to $4,000.  Students are asked to write a short essay on The Importance of Community Banking.

ISAC Gift Assistance Scholarships – There are many scholarships and
grants available for students from nursing to teaching specialties as well as veterans and dependents of Police/Fire officers.  www.Collegezone.com .
Fred Bailey Scholarship - University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign students only.  For students who show a commitment to community engagement, service, leadership, and academics. www.universityymca.org/bailey

Illinois PTA Lillian E. Glover Scholarship    This scholarship is open to seniors entering the field of education or an education- related degree program- 1st place-$3000   2nd  place-$2000. Two scholarships will be awarded in each of the 22 districts.Apply online at www.illinoispta.org/scholarshipapplication.html

Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver- 4-year in-state tuition waiver to the University of Illinois. This is open to children of veterans. Download application at: www.osfa.uiuc.edu

Illinois Special Education Teacher Scholarship Program- These Scholarships are available for students entering a teaching program in Special Education. These awards cover the cost of tuition and fees at any state university in Illinois.

Independent Order of Odd Fellows - Open to seniors who are residents of Illinois and citizens of the USA. Students must be planning to continue education in any post-secondary school or/and accredited vocational/technical school. Applicants need not be affiliated with the Independent order of Odd Fellows. The application may be found in the counseling office or at http://www.ioof-il.org/

Sons of Confederate Veterans  This $1,000 scholarship is open to students who are descendants of a male who served honorably in the army, navy, judicial, executive, or civil service of the Confederate States of America.  A 500 word essay is required.

Elks’ Physical/Occupational Therapy Scholarship – Applicants must be enrolled fulltime in a recognized physical or occupational therapy program or pre-therapy or therapy assistant.  Application is available online at illinoiselksccc.org.   Application must be filed with your Lodge of jurisdiction, which can be found at: www.elks.org/locallodges.cfm.                                                             Deadline:   March 4
Illinois Sheriff’s Association- $500 awarded to students throughout the state of Illinois who are wishing to pursue higher education during the 2008-2009 year.  Applicants must be permanent Illinois residents. Applications available at www.ilsheriff.org

American Legion, Department of Illinois Scholarship Award.  This scholarship is open to the child or grandchild of a current paid up member or deceased member of the American Legion, Department of Illinois. Applicant must be a senior in an accredited high school who will graduate in the current school year. This award will be made on the basis of personal financial need and academic qualifications as outlined in application.

American Legion Auxiliary-open to child or grandchild of veterans who have served during the eligibility dates for membership in the American Legion.  Several scholarships are available.

Illinois Heartland Decorative Artists-scholarship based on artistic talent, desire, and need. Application must include 6-10 photos of Artwork.

Illinois Lumber and Materials
This scholarship is open to any student who is enrolled full-time in a certificate or degree program pursuing a career in the Building field at an accredited trade school or 2 or 4 year college.  Must be a resident of Illinois.

Karen Hill Memorial Scholarship – The Northern Illinois Antique Dealers Association will be awarding two scholarships for $1,000 for students pursuing history, art, design, historic preservation, or a related field.
Deadline: March 31
Solid Rock Foundation Scholarship
The Solid Rock Foundation is a non-profit organization providing scholarship benefits to students pursuing majors in the Accounting or Economics fields.  Three-$1000 scholarships will be awarded to students from 6 high schools within Illinois/ Arizona.  Ottawa Township High School is one of them. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5, plan to major in Accounting or Economics, and be accepted for enrollment at a 4 year accredited institution.  Deadline:  May 31

University of Illinois Balanced Man Scholarship-By Sigma Phi Epsilon
Open to incoming males students who have excelled in the areas of scholarship, leadership, athletics, and community service during their high school years.*  
Deadline:  April 16

*There are several scholarships that are available yearly for students accepted to the University of Illinois specifically.  Check frequently in 203 for these opportunities.  

Northwest Illinois Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Scholarship- This $500 scholarship is available to a student enrolled or accepted into a health care program for the fall.  Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Illinois Association of Highway Engineers
Six scholarships are available to students pursuing the field of transportation related engineering.  ACT score, personal statement and school/community activities are all considered.

NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation- Many scholarship opportunities are open to the son/daughter of an active duty marine, or one who has received an Honorable discharge, medical discharge, or was killed while serving in the US Marine Corps.  There is also a limitation to grandchild eligibility.  For complete information and application:  www.mcsf.org

Coca-Cola Scholarship-  If you are a truly motivated, dedicated, involved high school senior, you should apply for this one. 250 deserving students will be awarded $3 million a year in scholarships. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be planning to pursue a degree at an accredited US. post-secondary institution.  Apply at:  www.coca-colascholars.org                             Deadline:  October 31

WalMart Community Scholarship –
Available through www.walmartfoundation.org.   
The community scholarship is a non-renewable $1,000 award for the first year of undergraduate study at an approved accredited college or university.  To qualify, a student must be a graduating high school senior and may not be a Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club associate, or the child or legal depended of a WalMart or Sam’s club associate.

AXA Achievement Scholarship – The AXA Achievement Scholarship offers college scholarship of $10,000 and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the workplace. Mediacom Communications will award 40 scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating high school students attending accredited post-secondary institutions.  Applicants must live in one of the five states where it conducts business, one of them being Illinois. National Defense Transportation Assn- open to high school seniors in Illinois or Missouri and college students enrolled full-time at an accredited institution. Priority will be given to those planning a degree program related to the field of business, transportation logistics, or physical distribution.
