Fix a mistake today!  Take responsibility and say you’re sorry, re-do an assignment, stop complaining and make a change!
Thursday - Blue (TRUSTWORTHINESS)
Did you know we have a program called “Catching You With Character”?  Everyone watches what you do…you just might be nominated for going “Above and Beyond”!
Friday - Red (CARING)
“Random Acts of Kindness”  We are asking each of you to “pay it forward”, do something nice for someone!  Examples:  offer a compliment, hold the door, help a charity, and/or  tutor a student…

The next ACT will be held Saturday, October 22nd at OTHS
The ACT following will be Saturday, December 10th, at OTHS.  The registration deadline is November 4th.  Students must register online at www.actstudent.org
Materials to prepare for the test are available in room 203 and online.  
ACT:  $39.50 and ACT with writing:  $56.50

Welcome all new students and returning students to OTHS!  We hope you all have a wonderful school year!

Scholarships

Ottawa Sunrise Rotary “Student of the Month” This $600 scholarship opportunity for seniors is based on an application which is available in the Counseling Center in September. Members of the club review the applications and choose a student to represent OTHS at one of the 7 monthly Sunrise Rotary meetings.  These 7 students are eligible for the scholarship, and the recipient is chosen by the Rotary group based on the essay they will present at the meeting.  
Deadline:  October 6


Alex Scherer Memorial Scholarship  
This scholarship is open to seniors who are planning on entering a 4-year university after graduation.  Applicants should have an outstanding academic record, exceptional character, and extra-curricular participation, especially in community affairs. 
Deadline: December 7
 
Alexander Guy William Muir Memorial Scholarship This is a memorial scholarship opportunity for a college bound senior (2 or 4 year school) who plans to pursue a Computer or Business-related field. 
Deadline:  December 1
 
Betty Hibbs Schott Memorial Scholarship   This memorial scholarship is open to all college bound seniors. Approx $300 will be awarded.
Deadline: December 1
 
Gil Love Memorial Scholarship This $500 scholarship is open to seniors continuing their education at a 2 or 4 year school.  The recipient must have a “B” average, be in the upper 20% of the senior class, and have earned a minimum of 2 varsity letters during his or her high school experience.  Deadline: December 15
 
Phil Schoch Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is open to OTHS seniors who are planning to continue their education at a 2 or 4 year school (fulltime).  The amount of the scholarship varies yearly.  This scholarship is based on the personal application. 
Deadline: January 20
 
OTHS Teacher’s Centennial Scholarship   This $500
Scholarship is open to all college bound seniors (2 or 4 year school) The requirements are to have a good academic average (B), good school conduct.  School involvement and community service will also be considered.
Deadline: January 18
